Project your balance year by year across a full career — or flip it around: pick the number you want at the end, and get the per-check plan to hit it.

| Year of career | Per check | In that year | Total in | Balance |

How the math works: contributions are totaled per year (per-check amount × checks per year) and the balance compounds once annually at your assumed rate, with each year's contributions credited at year end. Increases apply at the start of each new year. Results are estimates for education — not investment, tax, or legal advice. Markets don't return the same number every year.
2026 IRS limits: the 457(b) elective deferral limit is $24,500 under age 50, $32,500 at 50+ with the catch-up, and $35,750 for ages 60–63 (back to $32,500 at 64+). The tool caps your contributions at the limit for your age in each year of the plan and flags those years "maxed." Limits usually rise a little most years, so real-world caps will likely be higher than shown.
